AISHK Students stand out in the GAPSK Putonghua Recitation Competition (International Group)

Congratulations to Alex Camilleri (5O) on his recent success in the GAPSK Putonghua Recitation Competition (International Group). He was crowned Champion in the Year 4-5 group. Competing against 10 other students with majority of whom are of Chinese background, Alex won the judge’s praise for his fluent, expressive and confident presentation.  In the other section, Amelie Kennedy (1T) received 1st Runner-up in the Year 1 group, also an outstanding result which makes us all feel very proud.

The following is a recount from Alex:

“On Saturday, I took part in the GAPSK Putonghua Recital Competition which I was required to present a pre-selected poem in front of a group of audience.  I was up against backgrounders and I got champion! I was over the moon! There were tears of happiness and I was jumping up and down all the way home holding my score sheet really tight so it wouldn’t be blown away! From this competition, not only have I learnt a beautiful Chinese poem, but also an important lesson – that if you put effort and commitment into something (such as willing to give up recess and lunch playtime to practise), anything is possible.  What a memorable experience!”

Well done to both Alex and Amelie!
