Preparatory Newsletter, Term 4 Week 6

More than half way into Term 4, we are on a roll here in Prep. The children are focussed and have been showing some of their incredible learning and understanding as the end draws nearer.

Our Learning

In Literacy, Prep have continued their focus on re-telling stories, however, we are now moving from written to verbal. The students are learning to retell familiar stories through performance. You will be able to see some of this in action at our Prep Assembly in Week 7.

In Maths we continue developing our problem solving skills whilst exploring the concept of sharing, this is the first stage of division concepts. We then moving into informal measurement, whereby children learn to use direct and indirect comparisons to decide which items are longer, heavier or hold more, and explain their reasoning in everyday language.

In Integrated Studies we have continued to explore our special and important places, though we are now progressing to location and understanding of what Geography actually is. Students are learning how simple maps and models can include location of places and features, including those of their special place.

AISHK Fair

A big thank you goes out to all parents that contributed to our Prep Pop Up Playground last Saturday. The entire fair was a huge success and it was lovely to see so many of our families helping out and enjoying themselves. Thank you once again from the Prep teachers for all of your support and advertising.

Early Childhod Athletics Carnival

It was lovely to see so many students participating and having such a great time at the Athletics Carnival today. The children have been practising their athletic skills and it was nice to see so many supportive families coming out to see the students strut their stuff. A big thank you to Christine Simms and the rest of the staff who made today possible.
