The teaching of mathematics has continued to be a focus for professional learning for our teachers in the primary division at AISHK.
Phillipa Miller from the Association of Independent Schools of New South Wales (AISNSW), spent 3 days with class teachers working on how to develop positive mathematical mindsets in the classroom and how problem solving can be used to develop students mathematical thinking.
These three days included a one day workshop, observations of the Head of Year teaching from each year level and an analysis of the learning during that lesson. This professional learning opportunity has enhanced teachers’ understanding of teaching mathematics which leads towards improving student learning in mathematics.
To assist in supporting students, AISHK primary leadership team and some teachers will be hosting a parent workshop to give parents a better understanding of how we teach mathematics and how parents can help at home. We encourage parents to sign up to one of the morning or evening sessions. We already have over 100 parents signed up for the workshop! Please see the details below.
Please choose one of the following sessions to attend:
Wednesday 30 October at 8:30am – 9:30am
Thursday 31 October at 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Venue: AISHK Auditorium
