[Head of Primary Message] Reflection on Term 3

It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of Term 3 for this year. Being new to the school this term, it is amazing how quickly the last nine weeks have passed. In this final week before the break, I have taken some time to reflect upon what great learning opportunities exist for our students both within and beyond the classroom.

Alongside the strong focus on the key learning areas of literacy and numeracy and the social and emotional well-being of our students, there have been many extra activities taken place including Father’s Day events, mathematics problem solving days, public speaking opportunities, charity events, Jump Jam, book week, performing arts recitals, new playground equipment for playing times, camp and many more. These broad ranging experiences focus on a holistic approach to learning for our students and make each day of school an exciting prospect. I am looking forward to seeing what Term 4 has in place for our students.

And finally, I would like to say thank you to the AISHK community for being so welcoming in my first term.  I have loved the respectful confidence that the students have had when they come up to say hello. I have admired the openness of the teachers and the willingness to listen to new ideas and reflect upon their practice. I have valued how closely the senior leaders of the school work together. And finally, I have appreciated the warm welcome from parents and the opportunity to have discussions about school and finding out what is important to parents. AISHK has a wonderful community and it is a privilege and honour to be a part of it.

I wish everyone a safe and wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 4.
