Ahoy and Yo Ho Ho – calling all Scallywags to Walk the Plank on Jacaranda Mufti Day!
As a whole school, we celebrate Jacaranda Mufti Day on Wednesday, August 29. Our theme this year is all about our Pirate Scallywags finding their treasure. There is a variety of treasures available for students from the Prep classes to Year 12 to enjoy throughout the day.
HOPE for Cambodian Children is a community-based organisation that supports impoverished children to help break down the barriers to achieve their dream for a better life. Further information about Jacaranda’s chosen charity can be found on their face book and website, https://hopeforcambodianchildren.org/
Last year the money raised from our Mufti day went directly into refurbishing classrooms, painting the classroom walls, hooks on the backs of the toilet doors, little things that make a big difference. This year all monies raised will go directly to our charity- HOPE for Cambodian Children and will pay for classroom resources and consumable items such as paper, books, teacher resources, posters and also help them set up a vegetable patch and eco gardens in their playground.
Throughout the day there will be the following stalls and activities:
Island Treasures Bake Stall with honey joys, toffees, slices and cupcakes priced at $10 or below.
Bandanas will be available for the purchase price of $20. They are a limited edition and in all house colours. The Students are able to wear these on Jacaranda Mufti Day, Book Week dress-up day and at all sporting carnivals. They will be on sale later next week at recess and lunch time.
Ahoy Ther Me Hearties BBQ with a huge sausage sizzle. Pre-order form will be sent to all Primary families next week.
Walk the Plank Icey poles and Zooper Doopers will be part of the Blue Pearl Lunch Pack. These will also be on sale for $10 each at lunch.
Pirate Pop aka soft drinks will be available for the senior school during the lunch hour.
Sea of Thieves games and activities will include Face painting, Treasure Hunt, Walk the Plank, Lucky Dip, Heave Ho, Guess the amount of coins in the Treasure trunk and a Pirate Lunchtime Disco where they can stretch out their sea legs. These activities will be either $5 or $10
Jacaranda Mufti aims is to raise again over $50 000 so we can truly ‘make a difference’ to the lives of the children and their desperate families at HOPE and their surrounding village.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to HOPE for Cambodian Children please place it in the bucket that will be in the foyer on Mufti Day or donate a prize for the lucky dip or children’s stalls. Your contributions will make such a difference to the lives of these children.
We are looking forward to a wonderful celebration that showcases the whole school team spirit of Jacaranda and your support of our charity is as always greatly appreciated.
