Book Week and Book Fair Updates

Countdown to Book Week-Two weeks to go!

This week I received more photos of the boys and girls reading, thank you for sending them in. If you haven’t had a chance, there’s still time to email me nicole_atkins@aishk.edu.hk

Library lessons

All classes have been reading the shortlisted Children’s Book Council Award books and the boys and girls have been reflecting on attributes such as the front cover, blurb, the story line, the illustrations and how the text and illustrations relate to one another. We have talked about the criteria the judges use to select the winning book of the year. Next week all students will vote for their favourite.

Reading Challenge

We have had a huge number of prizes distributed for the Reading Challenge, the boys and girls are really keen to participate, and we thank you for your support with this. A friendly reminder to write the titles of the books read and sign this. We ask that you initial the total of minutes each week also.

Book Fair

We are very much looking forward to hosting a Book Fair in the Library on Friday 31 August. Each class will be scheduled to visit to purchase a book should they wish to do so.

There will be a large variety of books available and they will range in price from $100-$300. Any purchase over $100 will receive a 10% discount to use on the day. Please discuss with your child your expectations in regard to book choice and the spending amount as appropriate.

The Book Fair will be open from 8am-3:30pm and you are more than welcome to pop in for a browse. We look forward to seeing you in the Library.
