Year Two Newsletter – Week 8 Term 2

With Term Two coming to an end, I know we are all ready for a well-deserved break. However, with 2 weeks still left, there is still plenty going on in Year Two. We are winding up our Integrated Studies unit on ‘Life as a Child’. The children have had lots of fun learning about olden days games and toys, what houses were like and how school was different.

Thank you to Mr Hemphill who visited all the Year Two classes last week and shared stories about his life growing up on a farm. The children learnt some new vocabulary including; ‘yabbying’, ‘creek’ and ‘the sixes’.

Student led conferences
Thursday 21 June we are holding the Student Led Conference day. You will have received your time allocation from your classroom teacher. If you do not know your scheduled time, please notify your teacher. The purpose of the student led conferences is for the following:

  • To celebrate student achievement
  • To foster open dialogue between students, parents and teachers
  • To give students the opportunity to reflect on their achievements
  • To encourage students to accept personal responsibility for their learning
  • To develop students organisational and communication skills.

Remember the children need to come dressed in their school uniform. We look forward to seeing you all on the 21st!

Leaving Early for Holidays
If you are leaving early or returning late from holidays, please make sure you fill out the student leave form and return to your classroom teacher.

Last Day of School
Friday 22 June will be the last school day of the term. It will be a mufti day for all children. The primary assembly will commence at 11am with school concluding at 12pm. Please make sure you notify your teacher of any changes to your child’s pick-up or bus arrangements.

Class Hamper for the School Fair
Please don’t forget to send in your items for the class hamper. The deadline is 21 June.
