For students at AISHK, some of their fondest memories of the early years of Primary will have involved sitting down and listening to their teacher reading aloud stories of fantasy and adventure. Picture storybooks help children to develop a child’s outlook on the world by enriching their vocabulary and imagination. Some who are not so privileged may miss out on these wonderful opportunities due to limited access to reading and picture books.
During May, AISHK is again teaming up with Kids4Kids to help others in our community through the Sharing for a Cause Book Drive initiative. Beneficiaries of this Book Drive include Kids4Kids’ local partners under the Buddy Reading Program, along with Crossroads Foundation’s regional communities in need.
Sharing for a Cause is looking for the following:
- Picture Books suitable for 3 to 12-year olds
- Positive themes of friendship, kindness and happiness
Books that are not suitable for this Book Drive are as follows:
- Violent themes
Collection points for the Sharing for a Cause campaign will be located outside the 1st Floor Cafeteria, 2nd Floor Auditorium and inside the Library.
We look forward to your contributions to aid literacy development in our local and regional communities.
