Week 6 and 7 have flown past us and we have very quickly found ourselves zooming towards the end of Term 1. Our Year 6 students are certainly putting in their all both in and out of the classrooms.
There has been an unmistakable beat resonating through Level 5 at lunchtime, as our Year 6 rappers prepare their debut for our upcoming Assembly. The rehearsal room has been alive with music as our enchanting cover of ‘The Circle of Life’ is perfected and all throughout the school (and no doubt at home), mobile phones have been given a workout in filming for what should be a cinematic treasure; ‘A Day in the Life of a Year 6 Student’. Yes, the Year 6 Assembly is drawing nigh and we hope that you are able to join us for this exciting occasion. Our very first assembly in Year 6!
Friday 16 March is quite the day, for as we leave our Assembly, we prepare to hit that pavement (or running path rather,) for the annual Cross Country Event. This year, we have a change of location, at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade District. It is a spectacular part of Hong Kong and our students are in for a treat. The Year 6 bus will leave the school at 12:00pm for a 12:30pm start and we will commence our journey back to school at 1:15pm. Please feel free to join us at the venue to cheer the students along. Year Six have been training hard and it should be a great afternoon. Please note, that students are able to come to school in their Sport uniform (House coloured T-shirt) on that day as we will be wearing this for our Assembly.
Within the Year 6 classroom walls; bread has been turning mouldy, petri dishes have been catching microorganisms for us to closer inspect via microscope, Mindfulness with Ms Meg is a favourite part of the week for us all, ICT with Mr Ohlson is always a treat, then conveying mood through language in Literacy, turning our minds to fractions and decimals in Mathematics, learning about invasive species and their impact on Biodiversity……. We cannot forget to mention our first lessons in the Design and Technology Workshop have also commenced. Whew!!! We are powering through!
We hope that you are hearing all of the intriguing, thought provoking and discussion stirring conversations at home that we are having here!
Have a lovely weekend!

Secondary at AISHK
Please note that today, your son or daughter will be bringing home an invitation for parents to meet our new Head of School, Mr Mark Hemphill. Titled ‘Secondary at AISHK’, the morning involves a student led tour of the Secondary Division and an opportunity to meet with Mr Hemphill. We strongly encourage you to attend what promises to be a great event.
