Welcome to Year 3!
Welcome to 2018 and Year 3! All of Year 3, students, teachers and teaching assistants have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know one another over the last couple of weeks. It has also been lovely being able to meet many of you and get to know those of you who are new to the AISHK community. We have hit the ground running in Term 1 and have started off with a productive and busy start in all four of our Year 3 classes.
We are looking forward to a wonderful 2018!

Plus Minus Interesting (PMI)
At the beginning of the school year, teachers participated in a professional development day based on assessment. One of the focuses for the day was Assessment AS Learning and giving students the opportunity to assess themselves in the learning process and provide feedback to not only themselves, but to each other. Through Assessment As Learning, students learn about themselves as learners and become aware of how they learn. One of the strategies that the Year 3 team have decided to implement in our classrooms is the PMI feedback strategy. At the time of completion of any learning experience, students are asked to identify one thing they found easy about the task (Plus), one thing they found difficult (Minus) and one thing they found interesting. All Year 3 classes have already introduced this concept to the students and have been discussing their PMI for their holiday, mathematics, English and even their first week at school. Ask your child at the end of the week what their PMI was for the week, or even what their PMI is from the weekend. By using this strategy in the classroom, we aim to promote to the children that feedback helps them to improve and that challenges help them to grow.
- The school app is now up and running! If your child is absent, please use this app to communicate their absence to the school. Alternatively, you can email the primary office and please cc the classroom teacher in.
- Year 3 are required to bring their Sport and PE clothes to change into at school, so we please remind parents to make sure that every item of clothing is labelled.
- If you haven’t already done so, please return the “Brief Local Excursions” form to your classroom teacher. It is important this it is returned before week 6 as we will be needing it for the Primary Cross Country event.
