Dear AISHK Families: A Message from the Head of Primary

Welcome back. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces coming into school this morning. We are very excited to welcome so many new families, I hope you settle well into our amazing school and find a home within our community. Please warmly welcome any new families that you meet.

The first important meetings that parents are required to attend are the Parent Teacher Information evenings. These meetings will be held next week on Tuesday, 30 January for Early Childhood and Thursday 1 February for Years 3-6. Both these night will begin promptly at 6:30pm in the school Auditorium.  The purpose of the information evenings is to provide parents with an opportunity to meet their child’s teacher, see the classroom and hear about some of the expectations each teacher has for their students. One of the greatest influences in your child’s learning progress is the family. The more interest you show in your child’s education, the more influence you have on your child’s learning. I look forward to seeing you all there.

All parents are also invited to join the school community for our annual Welcome BBQ. The BBQ is this Friday 26 January. The event will start at 4:00pm and will finish at 7:30pm. This is a wonderful school event that welcomes and brings together the school community as we look forward to a wonderful 2018. Be sure not to miss out on this fantastic opportunity.

I would finally like to welcome our new Primary teachers for 2018. Joining the Primary Division team this year are Melissa Brown (Prep), Jessica McCarthy (Year 1), Jennifer Harbottle (Year 3), Andrew Bennett (Year 3) and Sue Blumenthal (Reception). We also welcome Cathryn Moore as our new Head of Early Childhood. Please introduce yourself to our new teachers if you get the opportunity.

I hope you all have a great first week.

Shirley, David
