Dear Parents
What an incredibly busy few weeks! The kids have enjoyed a trip to Ocean Park, Early Childhood Athletics Carnival and Year 2 Assembly. We know how busy that makes the teachers and students, but we need to say a big thank you to all parents, as these events also add to your workload when it comes to organising and rearranging yourselves…and sometimes your whole family! I’m sure you think the extra effort is worth it when you see their happy little faces. An extra thank you goes to all of those parents who helped out at Ocean Park; your help is always appreciated. The students have, of course, had a ball and been brilliant throughout. They are starting to flag a little now…it’s perhaps a good opportunity (if you’re looking for one) to discuss with them how a healthy diet and reasonable bed time gives them the extra energy they need for school and all of their other activities. The thought of being asleep at 7.30pm actually appeals to the teachers!
What’s Coming Up?
There are a few things to squeeze in before the end of the year. We have our final Year 2 Assembly, hosted by Year 1, on Friday, 8 December (11am in the auditorium – sure to be a tear jerker as we say farewell to the kids and wish them all the best for Year 3); our Christmas Jingle & Mingle on Monday, 11 December (4.30-8.00 on the Field); and Speech Day on Tuesday, 12 December. We hope you can make it to one or more of these events. Our last day of term is Wednesday, 13 December. Can you believe it? Your little people are rapidly becoming big people. As usual, the final day will be a mufti day and the students will finish at midday. Please mark these dates in your diary.
What’s Going on in Class?
We are finishing off our integrated studies unit in the next week, as well as revising some maths concepts and continuing to appreciate literature. On Thursday, 7 December AISHK will get a visit from “Aunty Peach”, an entertaining performer who will give us a fun literary experience. We will also spend a little time on Christmas craft and fun festive activities. Our Year 2 party will take place on Friday, 8 December. Please send your child with a plate to share. This year, to try to create some balance, we are asking the boys to provide a savoury dish and the girls to provide a sweet dish. If you already had something in mind that doesn’t fit in with that then don’t worry, it will all be accepted with thanks.
Reminders
To keep the focus on the transition from Year 2 to Year 3, please remember to make arrangements with the uniform shop to buy your child’s uniform for next year, as the Early Childhood uniform is different from that in Years 3-6. The uniform shop has extended its hours and will be open 8.30-3.30 Monday to Thursday in Week 8 only.
Not that long now until the glorious sound of snoring at 8am is either Santa falling asleep on his shift…or you, finally getting a little bit of extra rest.
