Sunday 12 November, 2017 – now otherwise known at AISHK as the day the Prime Minister of Australia visited our school.
The excitement of last week has lingered since the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, MP Prime Minister of Australia arrived to a lively and warm welcome at AISHK for a community event, co-hosted with the Australian Consulate. The drizzling rain did little to dampen this special occasion – a momentous milestone, not least because it was the first visit to Hong Kong by a serving Australian Prime Minister since 1984. The international media coverage of this event is also testament to the integral role our school plays in Hong Kong, Australia and the global community.
A wonderful and memorable day was had by all in attendance, with no shortage of happy snaps and high-fives with our guest of honour who was most happy to oblige. All proceeds from the event were contributed to the Fred Hollows Foundation, a wonderful charity committed to putting an end to avoidable blindness.
Thank you to the Australian Consulate, Support Australia Group associations, the Fred Hollow’s Foundation, and all our students, staff and parents who put in so much effort to ensure the day was a successful one – and that is certainly was.
