A look at the Term ahead for Year 7

Dear Parents,

Happy beginning of Term 4! I hope you and your family had a restful break. I cannot believe how quickly this year has already gone. I think it is safe to say that our Year 7 students are feeling settled. They are already asking to help with the Year 6 transition next term! I think they’re happy that they’ll no longer be the youngest in secondary.

I want to say thank you for all of the messages I have received from parents regarding last term’s email about kindness and community. The support has been overwhelming and I’m really pleased that conversations at school are being continued at home.

I wanted to round off Term 3 with something positive, so I asked our Year 7’s to list the ways in which they are showing leadership and contribution to our community. As I asked students to self-submit their names and roles, this list may not be extensive. We try to encourage student to be proud of their accomplishments, but of course some are shy doing so. There are so many students who are consistently participating in or leading activities. If you do not see your child’s name, please ask them about it. Chances are they are doing something, but are being quiet about it. The names below are in no particular order – it’s just the order they’ve submitted themselves to the list.

We will be running an extensive Year 6 Transition Week this year. Next week I will be asking Year 7 students to apply to mentor the Year 6’s for this programme. This will encourage positive connections between year groups, and give both Year 6 and Year 7 confidence within the AISHK community.

I will be having my final Year 7 parent morning tea on Monday 16 of October from 7:50-8:30am. Please email me at christina_carini@aishk.edu.hk if you would like to attend. I know some families will be leaving AISHK at the end of Term 4, so it would be great to see you so that  I can say thank you for your support (and, sadly, goodbye).

Have a great Term 4 and happy Hong Kong Autumn!
