What a fabulous week we had last week celebrating Book Week. The students were involved in a variety of activities to celebrate. Prep and Year 1 focussed on the text ‘Chip’ written and illustrated by Kylie Howarth. Prep enjoyed icing and then eating delicious seagull biscuits and Year 1 got to eat yummy hot chips just like Chip the seagull did in the book! All grades from Year 2 – 6 participated in the annual Book Week Quiz. Congratulations to all the students for your fantastic efforts, it was wonderful that all students were so actively involved. The quiz winners were:
Year 6 – Amelie, Annabel, Sienna, Naoise
Year 5 – Janelle, Ivan, Quincy
Year 4 – Sarah, Ryan, Charlie, Natalia
Year 3 – Ashling, Imogen, Thomas Samuel
Year 2 – Lachlan, Grace, Adabelle, Matteo, Lucy
On Friday 25 August, we had a wonderful Primary School celebration. It was lovely to see the boys and girls and AISHK staff in their amazing costumes. A huge thank you must go to all those who assisted with the costumes. We started off the day with a parade on the field and then Early Childhood moved to their assembly. Year 2 did a fabulous job of hosting and acting, particularly as they didn’t get to rehearse much that week when the typhoon arrived. The Library Monitors ran the Primary assembly with ease, and it was great to see the audience so enthusiastic about the Book Week Awards Ceremony where the winners were announced.
The Australian Book Council’s Book of the Year for Early Childhood award went to ‘Go Home Cheeky Animals’ by Johanna Bell and Dion Beasley and The Picture Book of the Year award went to ‘Home in the Rain’ by Bob Graham.
