AISHK athletes dominate at the VRC Emerald Bay Classic

Last Sunday 20 August, 12 AISHK students plus three alumni took part in the VRC Emerald Bay Classic, an open water swimming race in Sai Kung. Kristiana Echaluce, Sally Howell, Henry Phillis, William Phillis, Aneekah Styles, Natalie Chu, Ethan McGrath, Connor McGrath, Temana Short, Kaitlyn Buffon, Sam Thorley, Bill Thorley, and former AISHK swimmers Samantha, Eva, and Gabby Morton joined 100 competitors in a choice of two distances: 1.5km or 3km.

Our swimmers dominated the 3km race, filling 7 of the top 10 finishing positions. Temana Short and Bill Thorley raced neck and neck the whole way, with Temana just getting his hand on the wall a split second in front of Bill to collect the overall winner’s medal in the 3km event. Aneekah Styles and former AISHK swimmer Samantha Morton likewise staged an epic battle, with Aneekah just taking out the title in the 3km Overall Female category. In the 1.5km event, Kaitlyn buffon was overall 2nd placed Female.

Congratulations and a hearty well done to all the athletes who participated.
