International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) Science Results 2017

Students from AISHK sat for the Science ICAS (formerly the Australian Schools Science Competition). This competition consists of a series of well-designed scientifically based multiple choice questions which assess areas of: Observation, Interpretation, Prediction, Investigation, Reasoning and Problem Solving.

AISHK students performed very well when compared with students in our Region. The ICAS term Region comprises all participating International Schools as well as Australian Schools in NSW and ACT. Many schools are selective about who they allow to sit for this competition and consequently the average mark for these schools is higher than their average students’ ability. At AISHK the competition is open to all. With this in mind, our students’ performances are very impressive, scoring higher than the region average in all Secondary Year groups. In addition, in the Secondary School, three students were awarded a High Distinction, which places them in the top 1% of all participants who entered the competition.
