Two weeks ago our Year 6 swimmers went to Discovery College to participate in a swimming competition against 10 other international schools. Competition was fierce inside a very warm Discovery College pool. This swimming event provided students with a chance to compete with and against their friends and also secure some up-to-date swimming times. Many students swam personal best times and in the process, won medals.
Our girls finished 3rd overall and our boys finished 6th. This was good considering we only took five boys to compete. After all points were combined, we were the 5th placed school for the Year 6 competition.
Last Thursday, our Year 4 and 5 swimmers went to Discovery College to participate in a swimming competition against eight other international schools. We took 18 swimmers to this meet and did very well in the pool. Our girls carved it up in the pool, winning a number of gold medals. Avani, in Year 5, entered four events and won four gold medals. In the end, the girls were placed 1st overall. Our boys also tasted success and finished 3rd overall. This meant that AISHK was crowned champions.
Our relay teams did very well at both meets with our Year 4 girls winning and our Year 6 girls won by almost a length only to be denied of first place because of an early dive.
Harrow Swim Meet
On Monday 19 June, AISHK took a large squad of 33 swimmers from Year 3 to Year 6 to compete against Harrow. Every swimmer swam three individual races and some swimmers took part in a mixed relay. All students swam well and recorded some very good times. Once again, we dominated during the individual events and won all the relays.
‘On your marks, get set, splash! I dived into the pool at Harrow International School. My heart was beating fast as I was trying my best for myself and my school. We enjoyed competing in our races and it was a good opportunity to swim against other kids in Hong Kong. We won some races and lost some, but the best thing was cheering for each other and having fun’

A big thanks goes out to all the parents who gave up their valuable time to come along and support our swim team.
