Leanne Claxton, artist and print designer from the UK, will be our artist in residence during Week 10, June 19th-21st. Leanne has a BA degree in textile design at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London. In 2005 she trained in Paris under Christian Lacroix, where she discovered haute couture and the relationship between art and fashion.
Leanne will be stationed at the school from 19-21 June and will be working collaboratively with students from both Primary and Secondary Visual Arts classes in the Auditorium. Students will have the opportunity to contribute their art-making skills in creating a collaborative artwork. Students will use a variety of media, and techniques such as print-making techniques, drawing techniques onto paper and fabric and other tactile materials. Leanne will guide the students – provide feedback and demonstrations, and she will be a source of inspiration for students as a model for how important art can be for the community.
On Monday afternoon Leanne will give a short public introduction to her art making practice. Students, teachers and parents are welcome to drop in and listen and to observe Leanne and the students working throughout the three days.
