Primary Library Update

Author Visit Sarah Brennan

On Tuesday May 16, we had the lovely author Sarah Brennan visit AISHK.  Early childhood heard a wonderful retelling of her latest Chinese tale-Rickshaw Rooster, whilst Years 3-6 listened to an interesting workshop titled “Books are a brain’s best friend’.

If you would like to purchase one of Sarah Brennan’s amazing books please return your order form ASAP. Spare order forms are available at the library counter if you would like one.

Buddy reading in the Library

During Week 6, the Reception classes held a special event ‘A Day if the Life of Reception’.  It was wonderful to welcome so many Receptions students and their Mums and Dads for a special buddy reading session with some of our Year 2 students. A big thank you to 2M and 2F who gave up their library lesson to read to the boys and girls. It was such a success, we are hoping to hold more buddy reading sessions throughout the year.

Library borrowing and reading at home

I have noticed some students (mainly Upper Primary) are reluctant to borrow during their library lesson. It would be wonderful if you could ask your son or daughter what they are reading at the moment and encourage them to borrow from the library each week. We have a wonderful collection of books both fiction and non-fiction and we are always adding new books to our collection. Parents are also welcome to borrow from the library, please pop in at any time.

At times throughout the year, we are informed of competitions the students at AISHK may be interested in entering. Parents, please send your child’s entries in as specified on the websites.
