On 18 and 19 February, Year 10 student Benny Hu, Year 11 student Ronald Au, and Year 12 students Stephanie Tang and Christy Yeung embarked on a program run by the Asian Medical Student’s Association of Hong Kong called Medstart. Medstart is a two day course at Hong Kong University (HKU) and Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) designed for students in Years 10 – 12 to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a medical student.
Throughout the two days, students attended lectures from professors from the two universities, enjoyed classes led by university students, and had hands-on experience in surgery and clinic situations, all of which gave valuable insight into the medical course.
The students were joined by three AISHK Alumni – current First Years – Evelyn Chan, Vernice Chan and Chris Au, who gave their own insights about studying medicine in Hong Kong. All in all, the students found it to be an extremely rewarding experience.
We thank the Asian Medical Students Association of Hong Kong, as well as HKU and CUHK for providing this unique opportunity.
