Festive Fine Motor Fun in Prep

Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, usually the synchronisation of hands and fingers with the eyes. They are essential foundation skills for good handwriting, to properly grasp writing instruments, as well as everyday tasks like tying shoes, getting dressed and cutting food. Prep have been extending their fine motor skills in the run-up to the festive season. Together we created Santa’s Workshop in our classrooms where our students (or should I say, “elves”) can wrap presents, create Christmas cards, wrapping paper and festive decorations in the workshop space. These are all great activities to develop those much needed fine motor skills while having fun and getting into the festive spirit!

Happy festive season!
