Two weeks of outstanding performances in Swim Meets

It has been a busy start to the school swim team calendar with four swim meets in two weeks.

Two weeks ago, we took a strong team to our first ISSFHK swim meet at International Christian School, Sha Tin. We had a number of new swimmers join the team and they swam well, securing a number of personal bests in the process, as did most of our regular squad swimmers. Bill Thorley and Ashley Botfield carved the field up with some outstanding swims. AISHK dominated the meet.

The following week saw our junior squad travel to Discovery Bay to compete in the Discovery College Junior Swim Meet. For this meet, we included a number of our younger swimmers, many of those representing AISHK for the first time. Once again, our team swam well against a number of older swimmers and secured some great times and personal bests.

The following day, AISHK held their first home swim meet of the year, co-hosting with Yew Chung International School (YCIS) and Nord Anglia. Our school swimming pool was packed, the atmosphere was electrifying and the races were very close. We managed to get through over 70 races in 2 hours. RCHK, YCIS, Nord Anglia and Kellett Kowloon Bay put up a fight but they were no match for our Junior ISSFHK Squad. AISHK were the overall winners of the meet by 500 points. Congratulations goes to all who took part in the meets so far.

Our Senior Squad was due to have their first swim meet at DBIS the day following our Junior Meet, however, this was canceled due to high levels of pollution in Discovery Bay.

On Friday 23 September, our Senior Squad will swim at our AISHK-YCIS-Nord Anglia mini-meet. During the term break (Friday 30 September), our secondary swimmers will compete in the HKSSF D3K2 Swimming Competition at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool. At this competition, swimmers will compete against other secondary schools in the Kowloon area. Good luck to all those who are competing.
