AISHK Achieves Outstanding Results Over the Winter Break

Congratulations to all our AISHK swimmers who trained and competed over this long winter break.

Many who stayed in Hong Kong trained daily and competed in many HKASA events. Temana Short 14, continued his stellar rise with many gold medals won and an outstanding 54.87 seconds for his 100m Freestyle on 3 January at Victoria Park. Well done to Ella Fraser, Ellie Kehoe, Jack Ware, Lorraine Tang and Charlie Ware who also took part. A special mention to Ashvin Malkani who trained with gusto over the break.

Sarah and Andrew Law braved the chilly Hong Kong waters for the annual Middle Island to Repulse Bay 600m New Year’s Day Swim. They both placed fifth in the open category and found the water warmer than the 18 degree outside temperature.

Four of our swimmers competed in the NSW State Open Water Championships in Penrith, Sydney. Bill Thorley placed third in the 2.5km category while William Phillis, Henry Phillis and Sam Thorley placed in the top 20 in the 5km category. Aneekah Styles placed first in the 15-19 years Yamba Convent to Main Beach swim in very choppy conditions. A great achievement by all and we look forward to more open water success by our students.

We welcome back the Harry Wright Coaching team this year with David Pool and Michael Fashing leading the Gold Squad, Kevin Chow leading the Silver Squad and Jules Ware leading the Bronze Squad.

Our first meet is this Thursday 28 January with 48 of our swimmers competing at Victoria Park against Hong Kong’s Top International Schools. We wish you all a great meet.
