Lap-A-Thon – AISHK Nepal Earthquake Appeal Fund

The Child Welfare Scheme Hong Kong (CWS) is one of the four registered charitable organisations that AISHK supports through our House System. Through our Waratah Mufti Day and cash collection on 30 April, AISHK has so far been able to contribute HK$61,228 to help aid the victims of the recent earthquakes that have decimated Nepal.

In the light of these ongoing earthquakes and the need to establish safe and liveable conditions for families and children living in Nepal, AISHK will be providing a further opportunity for our students to engage and focus on activity-oriented fundraising for this cause, through a Lap-A-Thon sponsorship next week.

CWS, in partnership with their partner NGOs in Nepal, is currently focusing its efforts to establish safe and liveable conditions for families and children and on the rebuilding of schools and the provision of counselling and psychological support to the victims of the earthquakes. Funds raised from the Lap-A-Thon will assist CWS in this work.

The Lap-A-Thon sponsorship events will be next week between 15 and 19 June and will be managed by school staff. Prep to Year 2 will record laps for every 200 metres completed. Year 3 to Year 12 will record laps for every 300 metres completed.

  • Prep to Year 2 will run their laps on the AISHK campus track during the scheduled PE time
  • Year 3 to Year 6 will run laps around Kowloon Tsai Park during their scheduled afternoon sports period
  • Year 7 to Year 12 will run their laps around Kowloon Tsai Park during the Friday Activity period on 19 June

Information on the Child Welfare Scheme (CWS)

CWS is a Hong Kong registered charity dedicated to providing protection, education, health care and opportunities to children and their families. Founded in 1995, the charity has grown from helping a few hundred children in remote mountain villages to one that directly benefits over 32,000 children every year, both in rural and urban Nepal. CWS, in partnership with their NGOs in Nepal, is currently focusing its efforts on the rebuilding of schools and on offering counseling and psychological support to the victims of the earthquake.
